The first Friends album sees the band find and develop a definitive sound, and break through to a wider international audience after the more limited success of their first two singles. The bright, trumpet-led title track sets the tone for the album, which ranges from the purest pop of Falling and Every Summer to more reflective songs such as Many Places and Nothing Matters.

Crush, the new side-project of Beach Fossil’s Tommy Gardner, just released a lovely 7-track self-entitled EP on Bandcamp. Soft, irresistible vocal melodies that drift over stunningly polished guitar lines come together to create consistent and gentle pop songs, ones that could bring the sun out of the clouds. The EP is well worth the money, and whispers of vinyl are in the air as well. Listen to the ending track “Everything To Lose” above.

This album is almost perfect! Containing some of Hammill's best songs, beautifully arranged. Here he experimented with the ARP synth, especially on the majestic "(No More) The Sub Mariner".

Free Hand is an album by British progressive rock band Gentle Giant that was released in 1975. It also marked their first album under their new label, Chrysalis Records in the U.K. This album is noted for its high production values, and a less harsh and dissonant, more musical feel than their previous album The Power and the Glory. It was their highest-charting album in the U.S. and the only one to crack the Top 50 on the Billboard album charts.

Thick as a Brick is a concept album, and the fifth studio album, by the English progressive rock band Jethro Tull released in 1972. Its lyrics are based on a poem written by a fictitious boy, Gerald Bostock, said to have been adapted to music by Jethro Tull—although the band's Ian Anderson in fact wrote the lyrics himself. The album features only one song, lasting nearly 45 minutes. To accommodate the album on LP vinyl and cassette, the seamless track was split on both sides of the record. It reached number one on the US Billboard Pop Albums chart.

H to He, Who Am the Only One is the third album by the British progressive rock band Van der Graaf Generator. It was released in 1970. During the recording of the album, Nic Potter quit the band. Organist Hugh Banton offered to play bass guitar on the two tracks that had not yet been finished. In concert, Banton would play bass pedals to substitute for the lack of a bassist. H to He, Who Am the Only One also featured Robert Fripp of King Crimson playing lead guitar on one track.

The influences are so blatant on this that it's not worth going into, but this is still a lovely little EP from Brooklyn's Sight Seeing
