When we talk about records fit for summer, we mean one that evokes lazy, crazy days of warm sun by means of unhurried ease and glorious melody. Allo Darlin’ certainly do all that, and ‘The Polaroid Song”s appreciation of “dancing on my own to a record that I do not know in a place I’ve never seen before” pretty much nails it. Get it home, though, and there’s just as much to admire in the smart lyrical touch that belies any sort of scene connotations, a fine romance borne from catching hold of the little things.

The debut album from Preston's finest The Cavalcade.  Every once in a while a band comes along that just has that something extra special and The Cavalcade is one such band. Collecting five re-recorded tracks from the first two Cavalcade releases (the self released ep Meet You In The Rain and the super limited edition single on Edition 59) as well as seven new songs this could be just about the most important debut album of the year, yep it really is that good.  Sure to bring many new fans as well as living up to the expectations of an already devoted fanbase.  This is just the start of something very special.......

Velvet Davenport are an interestingly weirdo, backward-glancing psychedelic Minneapolis sextet who, judging from their bloody Happy Ending album art, don’t mind conjuring the Dwarves and/or Mudhoney even though sonically they’re more in line with warping Strawberry Alarm Clock or the Seeds or the Yardbirds or whatever.

"Shake The Shackles" is Crystal Stilts' first release since "Love Is A Wave" and is a great snapshot of where the band is now and a taster for their second album, due in early 2011.

Jonathan Clancy is from Ottawa but now he lives in northern Italy. He makes pop music that is marinated in reverb and double-tracked vocals. Taking the most compelling attributes of the past fifty years of Western pop, he turns them into something his own.

Bengalfuel (Lou DiBenedetto & Joe LiTrenta) began making music together around the end of 2009, they realized pretty much straight away that there was something really special about the combination of their music sensibilities. In addition to making music, Bengalfuel is also very much an audiovisual project, the videos they make being an extension of what they do musically but is equally as important to them as their music is. Lou lives in Washington, DC and Joe lives in the mountains of New Jersey, an area called Lake Hopatcong; once inhabited by native Americans, their music is their gift to the ghosts so they will have some peaceful music to listen to.

This soundtrack is mostly a collection of experimental instrumentals and familiar classical pieces, and as such, works to enhance the film and also to educate people unfamiliar with synthesizer music or to give a crash course for those who want to hear the highlights of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony.

The Godfather is the soundtrack from the movie of the same name, released in 1972 by Paramount, and in 1991 on compact disc by MCA, which had acquired the rights to the album (and the rest of the Famous Music Group catalog) when they purchased ABC Records in 1979, which in turn had acquired the Famous Music labels from Gulf+Western in 1974. Unless noted, the cues were composed by Nino Rota and conducted by Carlo Savina (who was credited on the LP, but not the CD).
