Not only is it an absolutely gorgeous rendition, but like all of Fireflies' recordings – it's warmer than a blanket and a bowl of soup on the very coldest days of autumn and winter.

Fireflies "covers"

Fireflies "cherry blossom girl"

Fireflies "Butterscotch"

Beautiful music.

Manchester, 1978. In the beginning there were four: Jeremy Kerr (bass), Martin Moscrop (guitar/trumpet), Peter Terrel (guitar/effects) and Simon Topping (vocals/trumpet). Four thin boys with a name borrowed from a Brian Eno record, the intense, drummerless quartet initially drew influence from Wire, Eno, the Velvets and Kraftwerk, and gained a manager in Anthony Wilson of Factory Records. The next proper ACR record was the epochal Shack Up, released by Factory Benelux in July 1980. Recorded for £50, the single still managed to dent the Billboard disco chart in the USA. Antilles/Island expressed interest in signing ACR, and they were invited to record with Grace Jones, but the band elected to remain with Factory and Wilson. In September ACR completed a short American tour supporting New Order, and collected an extra vocalist in Martha 'Tilly' Tilson. Download.

"Rapper's Delight" is a 1979 single by American hip hop trio The Sugarhill Gang. While it was not the first song to feature rapping, it is the first song made by a hip hop or rap group, and is generally considered to be the first true hip hop release, followed closely (just a few days later) by Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five's "Superrappin". "Rapper's Delight" is the song that first popularized hip hop in the United States and around the world through massive and immediate radio airplay. The song is ranked #248 on the Rolling Stone magazine's list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time, and #2 on VH1's 100 Greatest Hip-Hop Songs. Like many songs from the time, "Rapper's Delight" was performed over the breakdown section of a disco hit (played by the group Positive Force), in this case Chic's "Good Times". Download.

The West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band: Shaun Harris, Dan Harris, Michael Lloyd, Bob Markley.

The West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band's first album for Reprise was the best of the group's career, in large part because it was the most song-oriented. It was still plenty weird, almost to the point of stylistic schizophrenia, but when you got down to it, much of the record was comprised of fairly catchy songs in the neighborhood of two and three minutes. Download.
